The “Gaymers” community is one such example. It is a group made up primarily of LGBTQ individuals who enjoy playing video games together. They offer camaraderie amongst members and create a sense of belonging allowing people who might feel isolated elsewhere in society an opportunity connect over something they love- video games!
Another example is the “Girls Who Code” community which encourages girls interested in coding and programming through video game design workshops promoting STEM education among young girls while providing them with new skills needed to pursue careers as coders or programmers.
These groups are just two examples out of many; countless other inclusive gaming communities exist that cater to specific demographics or interests including disabled gamers, Black Gamers United , Latinx Gamers etc… All these groups promote inclusivity by making sure everyone feels welcome no matter their backgrounds.
Why Inclusivity Matters?
Creating more inclusive gaming communities has become increasingly essential over time because it allows us to have diverse perspectives on issues surrounding video game development- ultimately leading developers toward creating better stories that connect with wider audiences from various walks-of-life.
