Les Misérables is a classic novel by Victor Hugo that has been adapted into several films and plays. The latest adaptation, which is now available on Netflix, features an all-star cast including Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, and Amanda Seyfried. But let’s be honest here: Les Misérables is the ultimate sob-fest.
From the opening scene to the closing credits, this movie will have you weeping uncontrollably. The miserable lives of Fantine (Anne Hathaway), Jean Valjean (Hugh Jackman), and Cosette (Amanda Seyfried) are enough to make anybody cry. And don’t even get me started on Eponine’s unrequited love for Marius.
To add insult to injury, the characters in Les Misérables sing their way through their misery. So not only are you crying over their sad lives but also over their sad songs.
But hey, if you’re into emotional torture or just want to impress your friends with your ability to recite “I Dreamed a Dream” word-for-word while sobbing uncontrollably, then Les Misérables is definitely worth a watch. Just make sure you have plenty of tissues on hand.
Always an emotional wreck with this musical- stage, concert, film, and soundtrack
