Food Vendors to Look Out for at This Year's Music Festivals

As summer approaches, music festivals are on the horizon. And what better way to enjoy a festival than by indulging in delicious food? We spoke with several food vendors who will be featured at some of this year’s biggest music festivals.

First up is The Cheesy Chick, a gourmet grilled cheese truck that has been serving up cheesy goodness since 2013. Owner and operator, Amanda Wilbanks started her business as a side hustle while working as an event planner. She quickly gained popularity and now operates three trucks throughout Georgia.

Wilbanks shared that her most popular item is the classic grilled cheese made with cheddar and American cheese on sourdough bread. However, she also offers unique creations such as “The Hangover,” which includes bacon, egg, and cheddar between two slices of French toast.

Next up is Miami-based food truck Ms. Cheezious, known for their creative twists on classic comfort foods like grilled cheese sandwiches and tater tots. Brian Mullins founded the company in 2010 after realizing there was a need for gourmet comfort food in his hometown.

One of their signature dishes is “The Frito Pie Melt,” which includes chili con carne, Fritos chips, cheddar cheese sauce all sandwiched between two slices of Texas toast bread. Mullins says it’s the ultimate mash-up of Southern classics.

Another vendor making waves in the festival scene is The Lobos Truck from Los Angeles. They specialize in Mexican-Korean fusion cuisine such as Korean BBQ tacos filled with marinated beef short ribs topped with cilantro lime salsa and Sriracha crema.

Owned by brothers David and Mike Choi who grew up eating both Korean and Mexican foods at home they wanted to put their own spin on it and share it with others through their menu items.

Rounding out our list of must-try festival vendors is Recess Food Truck from Austin Texas offering healthy options like grain bowls using locally-sourced ingredients. This health-conscious approach has made them a hit at festivals like Coachella.

Owner Crystal Barclay, a former nurse practitioner who saw the impact of diet on her patients’ health and wellbeing, started Recess in 2016 with the mission of making healthy food accessible to everyone.

Their most popular item is the “Recess Bowl” which includes quinoa, roasted sweet potatoes, avocado, black beans and topped with cilantro lime dressing. They also offer vegan options such as their “Veggie Burger,” made with beet patties served on sourdough bread.

These vendors are just a few examples of the diverse range of food options available at music festivals across the country. From classic comfort foods to healthy bowls and everything in between- there’s something for every type of festival-goer. So next time you’re jamming out to your favorite band or artist don’t forget to indulge in some delicious festival eats!
