Waxing skis is not only a necessary task for maintaining the longevity of your equipment, but it can also enhance your skiing experience. A well-waxed ski provides better glide and control on the snow, which allows you to maneuver down the mountain with ease.
To begin waxing your skis, first clean them by wiping off any dirt or debris from the base using a scraper or brush. Next, select an appropriate wax based on the temperature and humidity of the snow conditions you will be skiing in. Apply a thin layer of wax to the base of each ski using an iron set at a low heat (around 120-130 degrees Fahrenheit). Be sure to evenly spread out the wax over the entire base.
After applying the wax, allow it to cool completely before scraping off any excess with a plastic scraper. Use long smooth strokes to remove all excess wax until just a thin layer remains on the base.
Finally, use a nylon brush to thoroughly brush out any remaining bits of wax from your skis’ bases until they have a smooth finish.
By taking good care of your skis through regular maintenance like waxing, you’ll ensure that they perform their best every time you hit the slopes.
