The world of celebrity has always been a strange one, with its own set of rules and expectations. One such expectation is that when you meet someone famous, they will be polite and gracious to you. Unfortunately, this is not always the case.
Recently, I had the opportunity to attend an event where several high-profile celebrities were in attendance. As a journalist, I was there to cover the event and interview some of these stars for an upcoming article. However, what should have been a fun and exciting evening turned out to be quite disappointing.
One particular celebrity who I will not name made it abundantly clear that they had no interest in talking to me or being interviewed by me. When I approached them politely and introduced myself as a journalist, they barely acknowledged me before turning their back on me and walking away.
I was taken aback by this snubbing behavior from someone who is supposed to be a role model for so many people around the world. It’s understandable that not everyone wants to talk to journalists or be interviewed about their personal lives but there are other ways of handling such situations without being rude or dismissive.
This experience got me thinking about how we treat each other as human beings regardless of our status in society. Just because someone is famous doesn’t mean they are entitled to behave badly towards others especially those trying doing their jobs professionally.
There’s no doubt that celebrities face immense pressure every day from fans all over the world wanting selfies, autographs or just wanting attention from them but let’s not forget that without us -the media- celebrities wouldn’t even exist beyond their immediate circles!
It’s important for people in positions of power and influence like celebrities understand that civility costs nothing; manners matter —whether it’s greeting someone with a smile or thanking them for their time—these small acts can leave lasting impressions on those we come into contact with.
In conclusion, while it may seem glamorous on TV or social media, the reality of celebrity life is not always as glamorous as it appears. Unfortunately for me, I was snubbed by one famous person but that doesn’t mean all celebrities behave this way. We can only hope that more people in positions of influence will use their platform to promote kindness and positivity so we can create a better world for everyone.
