Furthermore, when creating these short-term objectives – always ensure they support working toward meeting more extended long term plans- which helps individuals develop successful habits needed throughout life both inside and outside athletic endeavors.

In addition to being SMART-oriented and having short-term targets linked up with longer ones; Goals need regular assessments, evaluations and adjustments. For example, if an athlete is trying to improve their performance in a specific area but hasn’t made progress after several weeks of focused training, then reassessment is necessary. The goal may need tweaking for better results.
