As the world becomes more digital and people continue to consume content through streaming services, traditional cable companies have been struggling to keep up. This has led to the rise of cord-cutting, where individuals cancel their cable subscriptions in favor of streaming services that offer a wider range of options at a lower cost.
One such service that has gained popularity since its launch in 2015 is Sling TV. I had the opportunity to speak with Ben Weinberger, the Chief Product Officer at Sling TV, about what sets their service apart from others in the industry.
Weinberger highlighted Sling TV’s flexibility as one of its key features. Unlike traditional cable packages which require subscribers to pay for channels they may not be interested in watching, Sling TV allows customers to customize their channel lineup by choosing from various package options or à la carte add-ons like sports packages or standalone channels.
“We believe choice is power,” said Weinberger. “Our customers should be able to decide what they want to watch and how much they want to spend.”
Another advantage that Sling TV offers over traditional cable providers is its affordability. While traditional cable packages can cost upwards of $100 per month with hidden fees and long-term contracts, Sling TV starts at just $35 per month with no contract required. Customers can also choose between two different base package options depending on their preferences: Sling Orange or Sling Blue.
Sling Orange includes popular channels like ESPN, Disney Channel, and CNN while Sling Blue offers channels like USA Network, Bravo, and NFL Network. For those who want access to both packages’ offerings (including local broadcast networks), there’s an option called “Sling Orange + Blue” that combines both for $50/month.
The ability for subscribers to stream content on multiple devices simultaneously was another aspect Weinberger emphasized as unique about his company’s service model compared with other players in this space – something he believes is particularly important for families with multiple viewers.
“We know that people have different tastes and schedules, so we want to make sure everyone in the household can watch what they want when they want,” said Weinberger. “That’s why we allow up to three simultaneous streams per account.”
One concern that some potential subscribers may have about switching from traditional cable to a streaming service is the loss of local programming. However, Sling TV has found a solution for this by offering customers access to their local stations via its Cloud DVR feature – which allows users to record shows and movies for later viewing without worrying about storage space or scheduling conflicts.
Weinberger also noted that Sling TV has made significant investments in both content and technology since its launch. This includes partnerships with providers like HBO, Showtime, Starz, and more recently ViacomCBS (which brings channels like MTV, Comedy Central, BET, Nickelodeon into the fold). Additionally, he highlighted their efforts around personalization through recommendations powered by machine learning algorithms.
“We’re constantly looking at ways to improve our service and provide our customers with even more value,” said Weinberger. “Whether it’s adding new channels or features like 4K Ultra HD streaming or improving our user interface – we’re always working towards making Sling TV better.”
As someone who has personally used Sling TV as my primary source of television programming for several years now – I can attest to many of these benefits firsthand. The flexibility of being able to customize my channel lineup based on my interests (and budget) is something I appreciate greatly. Plus, having access to live sports events without having to pay extra fees or sign up for a separate subscription package is a huge plus.
In conclusion – while there are certainly other options out there when it comes to cord-cutting services – if you’re looking for an affordable option with lots of customization capabilities as well as access your favorite programming across multiple devices then Sling TV is definitely worth considering.

Sling TV is a game-changer for my entertainment needs! I love the flexibility it offers with its customizable channel packages and the ability to stream live TV over the internet. It’s like having the best of both worlds – traditional television and the convenience of online streaming. Plus, the user-friendly interface makes it easy to navigate and discover new shows. Definitely a must-try for anyone looking to cut the cord without sacrificing quality content. #Cancel Sling TV 📺👍
