Rising Incidents of Anti-Christian Violence Across the Globe

As a writer and journalist, I have covered numerous stories related to religious persecution. However, the incidents of anti-Christian violence seem to be on the rise across the globe. It is indeed ironic that in today’s world where people talk about freedom and equality, such violent acts still take place.

Let me start with an incident that happened recently in India. A group of Christians was attacked by a mob while they were praying inside their church. The attackers accused them of converting people to Christianity and beat them up mercilessly. Similar incidents have also been reported from other parts of the country.

Moving on to Pakistan, where Christian minorities are often subjected to blasphemy charges and attacks by extremist groups. In 2019 alone, there were several cases where Christians were killed or forced to flee their homes due to threats from these groups.

In Nigeria, Boko Haram has been targeting Christians for years now. They have bombed churches, killed pastors, and abducted Christian girls for forced marriages or slavery.

Even in Europe and North America, incidents of vandalism against churches are not uncommon anymore. In Canada last year alone, over 45 churches were vandalized or burned down following the discovery of unmarked graves at former residential schools run by the Catholic Church.

Now comes the question – why do such things happen? Do people really hate Christians so much? Well, it’s not that simple. While there may be some who genuinely hate Christianity or any other religion for that matter because they perceive it as a threat to their own beliefs or culture; most of these acts are rooted in socio-political issues like power struggle between different communities or governments’ policies towards religious minorities.

Whatever may be the reason behind it; one thing is certain – violence against any community is never justified under any circumstances. As human beings living in a civilized society we must learn to respect each other’s beliefs even if we don’t agree with them.

On a lighter note though (if there can be any) – maybe it’s time for Christians to start wearing helmets and protective gear while going to church. Who knows, it might become the next fashion trend!
