Discover the Charm of Historic Hotels Across America

From grand Victorian architecture to ornate furnishings and historical significance, historic hotels have a charm that is hard to resist. Across the United States, there are many such hotels that have stood the test of time and offer a glimpse into the past while providing contemporary amenities.

One such hotel is The Plaza in New York City, which has been open since 1907. It was designed by Henry Janeway Hardenbergh, who also designed another iconic New York landmark – The Dakota. The Plaza has been featured in numerous films and television shows including “Home Alone 2” and “The Great Gatsby.” With its opulent decor and prime location on Fifth Avenue, it’s no wonder why this hotel continues to be one of the most sought-after accommodations in the city.

Another historic hotel worth mentioning is Hotel del Coronado in San Diego, California. This beachfront resort opened its doors in 1888 and quickly became a destination for wealthy travelers from all over the world. Some notable guests include Marilyn Monroe, Charles Lindbergh, and Thomas Edison. Today, visitors can stay in one of the original Victorian rooms or opt for modern accommodations with ocean views.

Moving eastward to Savannah Georgia brings us to The Hamilton-Turner Inn which dates back to 1873 when it was built as a private residence for Samuel Pugh Hamilton who was known for his success as an attorney during Reconstruction times following the Civil War. During World War II it served as officers’ quarters then later became an inn during America’s bicentennial year – 1976. Now fully restored with elegant antiques throughout including four-poster beds dressed elegantly with fine linens making each room feel just like home but with added luxury.

These are just a few examples of historic hotels across America that continue to stand tall after decades or even centuries of existence, offering glimpses into different eras while providing modern comforts today’s traveler desires making them perfect for an unforgettable stay.
