Kat Von D: From Tattoo Artist to Beauty Mogul and Animal Rights Advocate.

Kat Von D is a tattoo artist, entrepreneur, and beauty mogul who has had an interesting journey to success. Born Katherine von Drachenberg on March 8th, 1982 in Mexico, Kat moved to the US at age four with her family. She grew up in Colton, California and got her first tattoo at age 14. From thereon out, she was hooked on tattoos.

After high school, Kat’s passion for art led her to study at the prestigious Art Institute of Los Angeles where she honed her skills as a tattoo artist. Her talents caught the attention of TLC producers who featured her in their hit show “Miami Ink.” Her popularity soared from that point on.

In 2007, Kat left Miami Ink and started her own reality show called “LA Ink” which followed the daily operations of High Voltage Tattoo Shop in Hollywood which she owned with then-husband Oliver Peck. The show ran for four seasons and showcased not only Kat’s impressive tattooing skills but also her business savvy.

However, beyond just being a successful tattoo artist and reality star, Kat also became known for her cruelty-free makeup line called “Kat Von D Beauty” which launched in 2008. The brand offers an extensive range of vegan products like lipsticks and eyeliners that have become fan favorites among makeup enthusiasts.

In addition to being cruelty-free and vegan-friendly, one thing that sets Kat Von D Beauty apart is its bold packaging designs inspired by Victorian-era apothecaries mixed with punk rock elements – all designed by Kat herself.

Despite some controversy regarding anti-vaccination comments made by Kat when announcing her pregnancy back in May 2018 (which later prompted criticism towards other views held by KVD), the brand remains incredibly popular amongst beauty lovers worldwide due to its quality products.

Aside from being a talented artist and entrepreneur though, it should be noted that one aspect of what makes KVD so interesting is the passion she has for animal rights. She’s been a long-time advocate of veganism and regularly uses her platform to promote animal welfare causes, even donating profits from certain products to organizations such as Project Chimps.

In conclusion, Kat Von D is a multifaceted public figure who has made significant contributions to the worlds of tattooing and beauty. Her journey from being a 14-year-old girl getting her first tattoo in Colton, California to becoming an international businesswoman with her own makeup line is nothing short of inspiring. Despite some controversies along the way, KVD remains an icon within both industries and continues to inspire people around the world with her artistic talents and advocacy work.
