As the 2022 midterm elections approach, it’s important to keep track of the primary election dates and schedules. These primaries will determine which candidates from each political party will appear on the ballot in November.
The first primary is scheduled for March 1st, when Alabama, Arkansas, California, North Carolina, and Texas hold their primaries. This is known as Super Tuesday and is often seen as a major turning point in the race.
Other states have different primary dates – some are earlier or later than Super Tuesday. For example, Iowa and New Hampshire typically hold their primaries in February. Wisconsin holds its primary on August 9th, while Arizona has theirs on August 30th.
It’s also worth noting that some states have open primaries (meaning voters can choose which party’s ballot they want to vote on) while others have closed primaries (meaning only registered members of a specific party can participate).
If you’re interested in participating in your state’s primary election but aren’t sure when it takes place or how to register to vote, be sure to check with your local election board or visit Vote.org for more information.
