Q: Can you tell us about your journey towards becoming a chef?

A: I have always been passionate about cooking since I was young. My mother had a big influence on me as she loved to cook and would often involve me in preparing meals for our family. After finishing high school, I decided to pursue my passion for cooking by enrolling in culinary school. Over time, I began experimenting with different cuisines and eventually found my calling in creating delicious plant-based dishes.

Q: What inspired you to create “The Green Kitchen”?

A: After working at various restaurants throughout my career, I noticed that there were very few options available for people who followed a plant-based diet. Most establishments offered only one or two token vegetarian options which were often bland and uninspiring. So, I decided to create an entirely plant-based menu that would appeal not just to vegans but also non-vegans looking for something deliciously different.

Q: How do you come up with new recipes?

A: Inspiration comes from everywhere! Sometimes it’s from traveling or dining out at other restaurants; other times it can be from trying out new ingredients or combining flavors that wouldn’t necessarily seem obvious together. At other times, customers make requests or suggest ideas which can spark creativity in developing new recipes.

Q: What is your favorite ingredient to work with when creating vegan dishes?

A: That’s a tough question as there are so many great ingredients out there! If I had to choose one though it would be mushrooms – they are such versatile ingredients and can be used in so many different ways to create a variety of dishes.

Q: What advice would you give to someone who is new to vegan cooking?

A: Firstly, don’t be afraid to experiment and try new things. Start with simple recipes and gradually build up your skills and confidence. Invest in basic kitchen equipment like a good blender or food processor which can make preparing vegan meals much easier. Lastly, always have some staples on hand such as lentils, beans, grains, nuts and seeds – they are not only nutritious but also affordable ingredients that can form the basis of many delicious plant-based meals.

Q: Some people believe that a vegan diet lacks essential nutrients. How do you ensure that your menu provides balanced nutrition?

A: It’s true that if not planned correctly, a vegan diet can be lacking in certain nutrients such as protein, iron or vitamin B12. However, by including a variety of whole foods such as legumes, leafy greens and fortified products like nutritional yeast or plant-based milks we can easily meet our nutritional needs while enjoying delicious food at the same time.

Q: Why do you think more people are turning towards plant-based diets?

A: There are several reasons why people choose to follow a plant-based lifestyle – whether it’s for ethical reasons related to animal welfare or environmental concerns about the impact of animal agriculture on our planet; or simply because they want to improve their health by reducing their intake of saturated fats from animal products.

Q: What is your favorite dish on the menu at “The Green Kitchen”?

A: That’s another tough question! But if I had to pick one it would be our signature mushroom risotto served with truffle oil – it’s creamy and comforting yet light at the same time!
