15 Swing States That Could Decide the 2020 Presidential Election

Swing states are the key to winning any presidential election in the United States. They are the states that can go either way, and therefore they are hotly contested by both parties during every election cycle. In this article, we will be looking at 15 swing states that could determine the outcome of the 2020 presidential election.

1) Florida: With 29 electoral votes, Florida is a must-win for any candidate who wants to win the presidency. It was won by President Trump in 2016 but has traditionally been a swing state.

2) Pennsylvania: Pennsylvania was won by President Trump by less than one percentage point in 2016. It has gone Democratic in every other presidential election since 1992.

3) Michigan: Another rust belt state that went red for Trump in 2016 but had voted blue since Bill Clinton’s first term as president.

4) Wisconsin: The only state where Trump won over a democratic incumbent senator during his last campaign. The Badger State is also home to several large companies like Harley-Davidson and Kohler Co., whose workers were hit hard by tariffs imposed on their industries.

5) North Carolina: This southern state has gone Republican in most recent elections but it’s increasingly becoming more competitive with Democrats making progress among suburban voters.

6) Arizona: Arizona hasn’t voted Democrat since Bill Clinton’s reelection bid back in ’96’, yet some polls suggest Joe Biden may have an advantage there due to his support from Latino voters

7) Iowa: Iowa saw record voter turnout during its caucuses earlier this year, which suggests residents will be engaged come November—particularly given how much farmers here have suffered under Trump’s trade policies.

8) Ohio: As goes Ohio so goes the nation! No Republican president ever made it into office without winning Ohio; no Democratic president did it without winning all or most of these top tier battlegrounds – Michigan, Pennsylvania & Wisconsin.

9) Nevada: Nevada has gone blue in three of the last four presidential elections, and the state’s large Hispanic population could tip the scales even further towards Democrats.

10) Georgia: The Peach State is becoming more democratic as minority populations grow in Atlanta and its suburbs.

11) Minnesota: With a Democratic governor, senator and attorney general, it’s no surprise that Minnesota consistently votes blue for president. But with Trump having nearly won this state in 2016, it’s worth keeping an eye on.

12) Virginia: Virginia was considered a Republican stronghold until 2008 when Barack Obama won there. Since then, the state has become increasingly Democratic

13) New Hampshire: This small northeastern state often gets overshadowed by larger states but it can still pack a punch come election time! Trump lost to Hillary Clinton here by less than half of one percent despite winning most other swing states.

14) Colorado: Colorado went Democrat in both of President Obama’s campaigns before going for Clinton over Trump during his campaign Now we are seeing strong support from suburban women and younger voters who have been energized since 2016.

15) Maine (2nd Congressional District): While Maine typically goes Democrat during presidential elections, its second congressional district voted Republican in 2016. If that trend continues, it could have major implications for November’s outcome.

In conclusion, these fifteen swing states will play crucial roles in determining who will be the next president of the United States. The battle lines have already been drawn between Donald Trump and Joe Biden with each vying for victory across these key battlegrounds!
