NFL Combine 2019: Standout Performances from Top Prospects

The NFL Combine is an annual event that brings together the best college football players in the country to showcase their skills and abilities in front of coaches, scouts, and general managers from all 32 teams. This year’s combine was held in Indianapolis from February 23rd to March 2nd, and there were plenty of standout performances that caught the attention of those in attendance.

One player who turned heads with his performance was wide receiver DK Metcalf out of Ole Miss. At 6’3″ and 228 pounds, Metcalf ran a blazing fast 40-yard dash time of 4.33 seconds, which was one of the fastest times for any player at this year’s combine. He also showed off his strength by bench pressing 225 pounds a whopping 27 times.

Another player who impressed at the combine was Ohio State defensive end Nick Bosa. Despite limited action last season due to injury, Bosa showed why he is considered one of the top prospects in this year’s draft class by posting impressive numbers across the board. He ran a solid 4.79-second time in the 40-yard dash while also demonstrating his agility with a strong showing in both the three-cone drill (7.1 seconds) and short shuttle (4.14 seconds).

On defense, another standout performer was Kentucky outside linebacker Josh Allen. Allen had an outstanding senior season for the Wildcats but raised eyebrows even further with his combine performance where he posted elite numbers across almost every category including a blistering fast time of just over four seconds on his first ten yards during sprint drills.

One player whose stock may have risen considerably after his performance at this year’s combine is Iowa tight end Noah Fant who proved himself as one of most athletic tight ends available for drafting by running an impressive time on both vertical jump height (39 inches) as well as broad jump distance (127 inches). He then combined these performances with good showings in the 40-yard dash (4.5 seconds) and bench press (20 reps).

Overall, the NFL Combine is an important event for players as it provides them with an opportunity to showcase their skills and abilities in front of coaches, scouts, and general managers from all 32 teams. For fans, it’s a chance to get a glimpse of what they can expect from some of the top prospects in this year’s draft class. With plenty of exciting performances on display this year, there will undoubtedly be plenty of anticipation leading up to the draft itself later this spring.
