Dome of the Rock is another iconic structure located within Temple Mount. It was built by Umayyad Caliph Abd al-Malik between 685-691 CE on top of what was believed to be where Prophet Muhammad ascended into heaven after his night journey from Mecca.
Western Wall or Wailing Wall is situated at the footings beneath Temple Mount’s western side facing towards Jewish Quarter outside its walls. It’s revered as being part of Herod’s Second Temple complex making it significant to Jews worldwide who come here daily for prayers with some even touching it while reciting Psalms or placing folded notes containing prayers inside its cracks.
Despite these religious connections, access to Temple Mount remains highly restricted due to political tensions surrounding its ownership which makes entry available only through select gates managed by Israeli authorities who require security checks before entry.
